King Room @ Mosedale End Farm

Farm Stay Holidays in the Northern Lake District, Cumbria. Mosedale End Farm is a traditional Lake District sheep and beef hill farm, and this king room is a proper base for a night or a week in the northern fells. You arrive to home from home comforts: a slice of cake, baked in our farmhouse kitchen and fresh milk to welcome you. The room sleeps 2 adults and has a king size bed, an en suite shower, towels and complimentary toiletries, two comfy chairs and a coffee table, a smart TV and fibre Wi-Fi. There is a small kitchen area for basic food prep with a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery, so you can make yourself a cup of tea or put together a simple meal without going out. While you are here we will show you what it is like to be a hill farmer. We run sheepdog demonstrations for a small charge, working our collie dogs on the fell, and we will tell you about the landscape we call home. All guests get a complimentary bag of corn to hand feed our friendly free range hens, which tends to be the part that makes your new selfie & a moment to remember. Beyond that, the farm carries on around you as it always does — sheep to check, cattle to feed, weather to watch. Ask us anything while you are here; we would rather you went home knowing a bit about how a fell farm works than wondering. You can walk our favourite Northern Fells straight from the farmgate, including Carrock, High Pike, Knott, Calva and the Back O Skiddaw, or Bowscale, Mungrisdale Common, Blencathra and Souther Fell. There are lots of Wainwrights to bag from here, and you can leave the car and walk all day for free. Picnics are available if you want to take one out with you. We are inside the World Heritage site and the Lake District National Park, just 20 minutes from Derwentwater at Keswick and from Ullswater. There is an EV charger, and we are only 20 minutes from the M6, which makes us a good spot for a holiday or a stopover to and from Scotland. Bring walking boots and waterproofs whatever the forecast says, and a warm layer for sitting out in the evening and stargazing. The room suits couples and anyone who wants quiet, fell views and a working farm around them rather than a hotel corridor. It is a working farm, so expect the ordinary sounds and smells of one, and expect us to be out and about getting on with the day. Come for the hiking, come for the quiet, or come for a night's rest on the way north or south — either way you will get a warm welcome and a proper look at hill farming in the fells.
