About This Experience
Time Travel to 1890 and Run a Fully Authentic Victorian Island Farm At Boloquoy Victorian Farm, history is not something you observe. It's something you live. From the moment you arrive, you'll become the custodians of a multi-award-winning Victorian farm on a Scottish island. The entire farm is exclusively yours: the farmhouse, barns, byres, workshops, watermill, gardens, fields and livestock. There are no other guests, no museum barriers and no modern distractions - only the opportunity to experience everyday life as it was over 130 years ago. Whether you choose to immerse yourself in every aspect of farm life or simply enjoy peaceful walks along the shore and quiet evenings by the fire, the experience is yours to create. Without clocks, notifications or digital distractions, the day unfolds with birdsong, changing weather and the needs of the farm. Each morning begins as it once did: animals to feed, fires to tend and the day's work to organise. No farming experience is required, and there is no expectation that you work from dawn until dusk. Tend the traditional cattle and sheep, gather fresh eggs, harvest vegetables from the Victorian garden and discover the seasonal rhythms that shaped island life in the 19th century. Depending on the time of year, you might plant potatoes, make hay, gather the harvest, preserve produce, gather driftwood or care for lambs. Every task reveals the remarkable self-sufficiency of 19th century farming, where nothing was wasted and everything had a purpose. Prepare meals using the farmhouse range and authentic 19th century recipe books, with fresh seasonal ingredients from the garden. Life slows naturally. Throughout the farmhouse, history surrounds you - not as a display, but as part of everyday life. Write by lamplight, play music, read period newspapers, try traditional crafts or simply enjoy the rare peace that comes from stepping away from the modern world. Your stay also helps preserve this remarkable heritage farm, ensuring its stories, traditions and skills continue for future generations. Boloquoy Victorian Farm is more than somewhere to stay. It is an opportunity to inhabit another century, reconnect with nature and experience a way of life that has almost disappeared. At Boloquoy, you're not watching history being recreated - you're living it.
