The Roost, Wild Camping & Bell Tents at Brook Farm

The Roost is a relaxed, small-scale campsite in the meadows of Brook Farm, our working smallholding in Wenhaston, Suffolk. Traditional grass-pitch camping with a natural wild meadow feel, for families, couples and nature-loving campers. The name comes from our resident chickens: like them, you find your own patch of meadow to settle into, wake with the sunrise, and wind down as the light fades across the fields. Choose a generous grass pitch (£10 including one adult; additional adults £8, children 3–16 £4, under-3s free) Or one of our two furnished 6-metre bell tents: Leghorn, a carpeted rectangle bell tent in a prime spot in the main field with a double bed, two singles, chairs and bean bags (bedding not included, from £40 a night); Silkie, a carpeted round bell tent in its own private area with a compost loo, double bed, single bed, sofa and chair, outside table and chairs, BBQ and fire pit with wood (from £75 a night). We keep things intentionally simple: fresh drinking water, clean flushing toilets, hot showers and optional fire-pit hire — no electric hook-ups. It's designed with families in mind: a safe, open field with plenty of room to play, campfires and marshmallows, and well-behaved dogs are welcome. The Star, our village pub, is a 5-minute walk away. Within 15 minutes you can be on the beach at Southwold or Walberswick, wildlife-watching at RSPB Minsmere, or walking Dunwich Heath. Thorington Theatre, an outdoor woodland amphitheatre, is a 15-minute walk from the site.
