About This Experience

# Farm Safari with Farmer Tom Join **Farmer Tom** for a private safari around our family farm in the Cambridgeshire countryside — exploring on foot, by vehicle, or a combination of the two. Our family has farmed here for 100 years, and in the surrounding area for generations. This is a chance to get beyond the farm gate and experience the landscape with someone who knows its fields, hedgerows, wildlife and history intimately. We’ll head out in search of our own **‘Big Five’ — fox, badger, hare, deer and owl**. Nothing is guaranteed (this is real wildlife, not a zoo!), but the farm is remarkably rich in species. We have **four types of deer** visiting or living on the farm, as well as **four of Britain’s five native owl species**. Depending on the season, there may be plenty else to encounter along the way. Our evening safaris normally begin around **90 minutes before sunset**. We’ll explore while there is still plenty of daylight before finding a good vantage point to watch the sun go down across the farm. As dusk arrives, the character of the countryside changes: hares and deer emerge, foxes begin to move and the owls take over from the daytime birds. Alternatively, for early risers, the experience can be booked as a **dawn safari**, heading out as the farm and its wildlife wake for a new day. This isn’t only a wildlife tour. As we travel around the farm, Tom will tell the story of the farm and explain how and why we farm as we do. We’re passionate about **regenerative agriculture, healthy soils, sustainable food production and creating space for nature within a working farm**. You’ll see some of our regenerative techniques first-hand and hear about the thinking behind them: how we work with soils, crops, livestock and wildlife, and how careful management can create healthier, more resilient ecosystems. For us, environmental stewardship isn’t about simply leaving nature alone. Farming inevitably shapes a landscape, so our aim is to **manage that landscape thoughtfully** — producing food while improving soils, creating and connecting habitats, supporting wildlife and making the whole farm ecosystem more resilient. There will be plenty of time for questions, conversation and stopping to investigate whatever catches our attention. No two safaris are quite the same, and we deliberately don't follow a rigid script. The season, crops, weather and wildlife determine where we go and what we find. Each safari lasts a **minimum of two hours** and is exclusively for your group, with a **maximum of four guests**. **Snacks and a glass of fizz** are included, giving us an opportunity to stop somewhere special and enjoy the landscape — hopefully accompanied by a memorable sunset or sunrise. Farm Safaris are suitable for **adults and children aged 10 and over**. Younger guests will, of course, be offered a suitably non-alcoholic alternative to the fizz! Please come dressed for a real working farm. **Suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear are essential**, and we recommend bringing **binoculars** if you have them. Conditions can be muddy, wet, dusty, cold or surprisingly warm depending on the time of year. Safari dates and start times are **arranged by mutual agreement**. For evening safaris, we normally recommend starting around **90 minutes before sunset**; dawn safaris are timed accordingly. Because the experience takes place outdoors and across a working farm, **we reserve the right to postpone or cancel a safari if the weather or ground conditions are unsuitable**. We would much rather rearrange your visit than give you a poor experience — or take unnecessary risks in inclement weather. Come for the wildlife, the sunset and the glass of fizz — and leave with a glimpse into the life of a working family farm, the extraordinary ecosystem around us, and our ambition to leave this patch of Cambridgeshire in better shape for the generations that follow.
